BAAA’s ODD Distance Meet – Very successful!

The BAAA’s held its Odd Distance Meet on Saturday and from the turn-out of athletes and spectators, the meet was a huge success!

Many clubs were represented whose coaches and athletes took the opportunity to get an early start to the 2016 track season. Many of the athletes are hoping to do well enough to secure a spot on the upcoming CARIFTA Games; many we believe, even have the 2016 RIO Olympic Games on their minds!

Coach of the Star Trackers Track and Field Club, Mrs. Laura-Pratt Charlton was not going to allow her team to miss out on the early opportunity to determine their readiness.

Pratt-Charlton says she was very pleased with the meet and commended organizers Tyrone Burrows and husband Dave Charlton for an excellent job. “If this is any indication of how the season is going to go, we are going to have a very exciting season.”

Star Trackers Track and Field Club would be hosting their own meet later in the season and according to Laura, with about 1000 athletes expected, plans are going pretty good. “We are expecting a meet that is full of competition, excitement and entertainment to the max,” says the excited coach.

One of the most well planned and anticipated meet, “Star Trackers Star Track Classic” plan once again to not disappoint fans; this year an exciting change is expected however. “We plan this year to introduce heats in the 100 meters which would lend to the excitement as everyone would want to run within that final 8. Competition is going to be great particularly as it would be close to CARIFTA and gives athletes a last chance to qualify.” As one could imagine, hosting a very successful meet year after year is not an easy job and can only be successful with the assistance of others. Pratt-Charlton took the opportunity to thank all those who help to make her meet successful.

“I must first thank our sponsor for over 10 years Mr. JR MacDonald. I would also like to thank the parents, coaches and volunteers; we are very grateful to them.”
